My portfolio website

How I created a design for a fictitious coffee company based in Brighton.

Introduction & Brief

I wanted to create a new portfolio that stands out and is sleek and modern. I wanted to design my portfolio in figma so that I can familiarise myself with the software and build up my understanding of design.

I did some research online (mostly on dribble) to see how other designers have designed their portfolios and just get a clear understanding of how I should create mine and what techniques and styles to use, in order to appeal to my target audience. I found that a lot of portfolios were experimenting with gradients and then having neutral tones as a background, so I decided to go ahead with this sort of style for my portfolio as I thought it looks cool and sleek. As you can see I used a pinky/peach gradient that goes from light to dark. I then wanted to have a calming blue colour tone as the background as I feel like it goes well with the gradient. I wanted to keep the text very simple, so I used Inter as a font choice. I then wanted to use a cube shape on the page that would have snapshots of my projects inside it, to make it look fun and engaging.

Once I had designed my website, my fiancé and I built it within Framer. Here we slightly divulged from the original design to make it more usable (and to get it out the door!), so that's why it doesn't 100% match the design.

Check out below a snapshot of my overall portfolio.

Conclusion

Overall, I am extremely happy with the way my portfolio turned out. I really think it helped strengthen my skills using figma and build up more of an understanding of design as a whole.
